Brigit S. Barnes is the owner and principal of Brigit S. Barnes & Associates, Inc.. Mrs. Barnes graduated cum laude from the University of Santa Clara in 1973 and obtained her J.D. with distinction from McGeorge School of Law in 1985. Mrs. Barnes is a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Agency, Business Associations and Contract Awards, and the Corpus Juris Secundum Legal Scholarship Award.

Mrs. Barnes is a member of the Sacramento and Placer County Bar Associations - Real Property Section, the State Bar of California, California Business Properties Association - Legislative Committee, and served as Sacramento Commercial Women in Real Estate - Chairman and Government Affairs Committee. Mrs. Barnes is also a member of the Nevada Bar Association and her practice extends around Lake Tahoe and Washoe and Douglas Counties in Nevada. Mrs. Barnes is certified as a specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law by the State Bar of California.

Mrs. Barnes has developed and published materials, as well as leading seminars for title insurance companies, real estate brokers, and developers. Sacramento Commercial Women in Real Estate (CREW) has sponsored Mrs. Barnes' seminars and lectures on the Department of Real Estate, Inclusionary Housing addressing water rights/agency regulatory controls at CREW's National Convention. Additionally, she was a co-presenter on State and National Environmental Restrictions Effecting Tribal Property at the Environmental Law Institute's First Annual Western Boot Camp. Mrs. Barnes has also served as one of the California Building Industry Association's (CBIA) representatives to Governor Wilson's Wetland's Consensus, an advisory body, drafting proposed wetlands and watershed management legislation in California.

Shareen Golbahar, Of Counsel.

Shareen is a graduate of McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific with a Juris Doctor in 1998 and has been a member of The State Bar of California since 2003.

She also has a Bachelor of Arts from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

She has been assisting families with their estate planning needs for many years. Her experience and knowledge is an invaluable asset to Brigit and her team.

Jaenalyn Killian, Paralegal.

Jaenalyn is a certified paralegal with more than 25 years legal experience. Mrs. Killian has completed the UC Davis Land Use and Environmental Planning Certificate Program.

Prior to receiving her paralegal certificate, Mrs. Killian spent seven years as a legal secretary/case manager, followed by six years of employment for a prominent land use and real estate trial lawyer. 

She has extensive trial experience in real estate litigation and previous experience with a civil engineering firm.

Nancy Seley, Office Manager/Paralegal.

Nancy Seley is a certified paralegal with over 45 years in civil law practice and office administration. 

She has worked on complex litigation and cases that are document intensive, including wrongful death cases, and has assisted during trial. She holds an A.S. degree in computer science and is literate in a variety of database applications, from simple to complex.

Her strong analytical and research skills assist the attorneys in all phases of litigation from pre-litigation through trial. She has been an office and IT administrator for both large and small firms and applies these qualities to managing our office and assisting with paralegal services.

Janice Reed, Legal Assistant.

Janice has been a legal assistant for over 30 years with experience working in large, nationwide firms in the area of entertainment law, contracts and real estate. Ms. Reed applies her vast experience in assisting our clients and attorneys in file and document management.
